In the physical universe, matter and our methods of manipulating it determine
everything else.
This section is devoted to the physical aspects of technology, which until
recently have been all of technology. Currently computers predominate here,
but we hope to eventually have something about other machines. Gadgets, vehicles,
robots and toys could all make an appearance.
Machines that compute are probably the greatest achievement of 20th
century technology. Their potential is enormous, but their present reality
is just as cantankerous as any mechanical or electrical contraption. Still,
some fun can be had with them, and this section tries to do just that.
Connecting computers together has become a major trend in computing recently,
be it on the large scale as with the Internet, or on the small scale as with
home networks. This section examines some of the nuts and bolts of getting
computers connected.
