The Work

The rough, rewarding kind

Tree felling, chipping, and land clearing on the property up north. Deadfall comes down over the winter and there is always more of it than you remember, so a good part of every trip is spent dragging it out, cutting it up, and feeding it through the chipper.

It is hot, loud, filthy work and it never quite feels like work. You finish the day sore, covered in chips, looking at a stretch of bush that is visibly better than it was that morning. Hard to get that from a spreadsheet.

Chipping Dead Fall

The first video I have put up — the Kubota running the Woodland Mills chipper through a winter's worth of deadfall.

First one. More when there is something worth filming.

The Kit

Two chippers, two jobs

The tractor does the heavy work close to the trails. The tow-behind goes where the tractor will not fit.

Woodland Mills TF68 PRO

PTO chipper on the three-point hitch, behind the Kubota with the loader and forks up front. This is the rig in the video.

DK2 Power tow-behind

Gas powered and small enough to drag in behind the side-by-side, for the deadfall that is nowhere near a trail.
